Going to the South Rim

South Rim of the Grand Canyon

South Rim of the Grand Canyon

I had a very enjoyable time at the Lowell Observatory. I was intending to stay in Flagstaff, Arizona for just a night which only left me evening for some exploration of the city. Fortunately, observatories are best visited at night and we got lucky because the skies cleared up just in time. Much I wanted to linger at the observatory, I needed to head back to Travelers Inn. It was only ten in the evening but my body tells me that it is already five in the morning because of the time zone differences. In short, I was very tired.

I didn’t really have much time to complain about the quality of the inn because I fell asleep almost immediately. In true fashion, I had to get up early because I can’t afford to sleep in. I will have to continue my journey and it will be another day of traveling for me. My ultimate destination is the Grand Canyon which is somewhat near where Flagstaff is. Actually, it is so big that it covers a very wide area but Flagstaff seems to be the best place to me to stop and catch my breath before continuing on my journey. Having said that, I was still almost two hours away from the Grand Canyon so I can’t afford to sleep the day away.

I actually didn’t have any trouble getting there since most people here would be going there. The roads weren’t packed which is good. This part of the Grand Canyon is called the South Rim and I would be exploring this part of the canyon today. There are numerous spots to see here so there will be a whole day of driving and stopping. I was just hoping that it won’t be too hot that afternoon since the heat really takes away my strength. With my water bottles in tow, I was on my way.
