Palais de Justice de Paris

The Palais de la Cité is a palace that is built on an island in the center of France. This arguably is one of the largest concentration of historical sites in Paris. I have just been to the Sainte-Chapelle which is the chapel component of the Palais de la Cité. There is a lot more to see here and it turns out there is one just next door. Just beside Sainte-Chapelle was an elegant building which unforuntately wasn’t open to visitors. At least the golden gates here don’t give you that welcoming feeling. The gates were closed on the day of my visit. I don’t know if they are ever open since this does not serve as a palace anymore.

The Palais de Justice, as the name implies is the center of justice of Paris. Back then, it served as the king’s courtroom. But now, it serves as the court of appeals of Paris. The building as beautiful as it is imposing as I look at it from outside the gates. You can see Sainte-Chapelle beyond the building and it somehow look much taller than I thought it was. I saw a sign along the way which seems to indicate that there are tours offered to a place nearby. I wasn’t sure if it is for the Palais de Justice but I didn’t bother with it that much.
