Entering Chateau de Fontainebleau

I spent the better part of the morning traveling. Just that morning, I was at the city of Strasbourg and now I was at Fontainebleau, which is near Paris. It was a bit challenging to get here because the regular train wasn’t in service at that time. Fortunately, there was a regional train that passes through Fontainebleau and the helpful staff of the train station helped me find it. From the train station at Fontainebleau, visitors need to take a bus which stops right at the train station. The bus didn’t seem to be quite frequent because I wasn’t the only one who was asking about the bus at the train station. Even if I don’t speak French, I can tell that the other passengers were also wondering if there was a bus coming.

There was a wait of more than thirty minutes for the bus, which I thought was unusually long for a bus service in the middle of the day. Maybe Fontainebleau doesn’t have that many people to make frequent bus services worth it. Anyway, the bus did pass close to the main attraction of the city and that is the Chateau de Fontainebleau. It is probably well known that these chateaux in France are more like palaces, and indeed, the Chateau de Fontainebleau could be considered as such. The chateau grounds feature a large square which is surrounded by the cheateau buildings on three sides. While going into the grounds is free of charge, if you want to going in the chateau itself, there is a ticket for there.
