Thoughts on Petite France

When I was planning this trip to France, I was trying to think of a region that I haven’t been to. I considered the west but I think that would have required me to travel a lot considering how far the distances between destinations are. I then zeroed in on the northeast where I also haven’t been to. There are a few UNESCO world heritage sites here which I haven’t been to so, that is a good place to start. Reims was a good place to start since it had three sites all by itself. It seems that Strasbourg is also another UNESCO listed site so I put that under consideration as part of the route. When I was researching on what was Strasbourg all about, I saw photos of Petite France.

There were photos of these beautiful timber framed houses seemingly from a fairy tale book. What’s more there is the yearly Christmas market which is in several places within the city. That pretty much sealed the deal for me. I would be including Strasbourg in my route and not only that, I would stay three days in the city to also visit its surrounding areas. Petite France in Strasbourg is really as picturesque as it looks. I was lucky, there weren’t hordes of tourists yet. Restrictions were still being lifted and there wasn’t a lot of external tourism at the time. It was actually the perfect time to visit. I knew I took a risk to go to France during a pandemic. I was wearing the mask the whole time, I would like to think that that helped me avoid contracting the virus.
