Gare de Colmar

Gare de Colmar

I left the city of Strasbourg early so I can see more of the nearby village of Colmar. Colmar is a famous tourist place and I was thinking to get ahead of the crowds before they arrive. To begin with, the crowds here in France weren’t at the levels they were in previous trips. Is it still pandemic after all and there are a lot of people who are still hesitant to travel in this kind of environment. I took the risk to come here and I think it was worth it. Sure, I would be wearing my mask almost the whole time, but by this point, it has become a minor inconvenience. Just don’t expect me to exert too much effort else it becomes difficult to breathe.

As usual, the main entry point to major towns is the train station. There is an hourly train that goes to Colmar and this makes it a very easy day trip to make from Strasbourg. The train station of Colmar itself isn’t that large as I would have imagined considering how popular this place is. As you can see, it is an old station which seems to have been here for decades. Unlike Strasbourg, this station wasn’t given a modern treatment which is still fine by me. When I stepped out of the train station, I was a little disappointed to see a modern looking town. I was hoping that it would be all medieval but I guess that is still some distance away.
