Cathedral of Notre Dame l’Annonciation

I had a fabulous time eating at Restaurant la Primatiale. It turned out to be the best meal I had the entire trip. It was a great recommendation and it shows because there were a lot of people eating there. Having said that, the place isn’t that big either so it can fill up very quickly. The restaurant is located a stone’s throw away from another landmark and that is the Cathedral of Notre Dame de l’Annonciation or the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Annunciation. This cathedral is also Nancy Cathedral. It is a baroque church which was built in the eighteenth century.

The cathedral is famous because it houses the remains of King Sigebert III. He was a king of Austrasia. He led a pious life and he was declared a saint. His remains where moved here when the abbey where he was buried was demolished. Incidentally, he is also the patron saint of the city of Nancy. When I saw how large the cathedral is, I realized that the city of Nancy was much larger than I had imagined. I’m sure that there are several interesting places which I have missed. I don’t think I have time to go around anymore. I thought I would be able to at least see what is inside the cathedral but again, I couldn’t get in.
