Hôtel de Ville de Nancy

Place Stanislas is a UNESCO World Heritage site in the city of Nancy in the Lorraine region of France. It is a square which was constructed by the exiled king of Poland Stanislaus. The square has a lot of the royal trimmings around its periphery such as gilded gates and fountains in the corners. The square also has several elegant buildings which surround it. The buildings are designed more or less the same way which gives it a feeling of elegance and consistency. This feeling of elegance also spills over to the city of Nancy itself. Giving it a feel unlike other French cities.

One of the buildings which surround the square is the Hôtel de Ville de Nancy. I originally thought this meant that it is a hotel but now I know that it is actually city hall. As you might expect, most cities and towns would have a Hôtel de Ville somewhere. This is Nancy’s Hôtel de Ville. It is a large building on the southern side of the square. The design of the building is consistent with the others with statues and symbols adorning it’s facade. Apparently, the main feature of the building is it’s beautiful interiors. I can see that the doors don’t seem to be open and are not very welcoming. I don’t know if it is because of the pandemic that they are closed but France seems to be already back to normal apart from the masks. Additionally, the buildings is lit up at night but unfortunately, I don’t think I would be hanging around here for the whole day just for the light show.
