Christmas Markets are an important tradition in Europe. I have seen a few of them around Europe and I find them very festive, not to mention fun. As far as the city of Strasbourg is concerned, Christmas Markets are actually one of the important things to do here. They have a yearly event which is tied to the Christmas Markets of Strasbourg. Yes, that was plural. Strasbourg has multiple Christmas Markets which are scattered all over the city. This is probably not just to market Strasbourg as the city to visit for Christmas, but having the Christmas markets spread out all over the city prevents overcrowding at a single market. Of course, there will still be the more popular markets based on what I have seen, they tend to sell similar stuff.

I went back to the Place de la Cathedral to hopefully photograph the Strasbourg Cathedral at night and also have dinner there. I thought that since they have a lot of stalls selling food, I should just eat here. It is still cheaper eating here than eating at a restaurant, so that is another thing going for it. From what I have seen, the food sold at Christmas Markets tend to be similar. There is the usual sausage, pretzels, churros and waffles. There are also ones which specialize in home made chocolate as well as other snacks. I ended up going for the sausage. I thought it is one of those specialties they have here. I, unfortunately, made the mistake of asking them to put mustard which turned out to be too strong for my liking. I couldn’t find a table to sit in and I was just eating my sausage bun just beside the fence. There are dedicated tables for eating at the Christmas markets but I just couldn’t find where they were.
