Walking Around the Garden at Hôtel de Ville d’Epernay

I decided to first explore the Avenue de Champagne while waiting for the wine tasting tour. I still have a little more than an hour so I think I have enough time to go around. I will be skipping Moët and Chandon, since this is where I would be having the wine tasting tour. One of the first landmarks there is the Hôtel de Ville d’Epernay. The Hôtel de Ville name is very common in France. I have seen the name in various cities and towns in France. Épernay also has it’s own Hôtel de Ville. Hôtel de Ville from my understanding is something like an equivalent to a city hall. I thought it was a hotel because of the name, but it seems that it is used by the city or town administration for work.

Hôtel de Ville d’Epernay is also near the start of the Avenue de Champagne. The main building itself is inside a fenced area, so visitors would need to go in the grounds to visit the area. Apparently, the place is larger than I thought. There is a pond within the grounds and some walking paths for visitors. It is a nice little oasis from all the wine houses you can find here. In fact, once you go in, you would feel that you have been transported into a different place.
