At the moment, the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Reims is surrounded by a bustling Christmas market. I wasn’t expecting this but I was delighted nonetheless. However, this caused me some problems because it was difficult to move around because of the large number people in the area. Fortunately, there were fences set up to separate the cathedral from the Christmas market. The Cathedral of Notre Dame de Reims is one of the major landmarks in the city of Reims. It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites of the city and from the looks of it, it seems to be very deserving of it.

The church is a good example of high Gothic architecture. There are actually several examples of this in France. To me, the design is a bit confusing since there is a rose window at the facade of the cathedral. This type of window is typical in Romanesque churches but high gothic style, takes this idea and incorporates it in their own style. The result is a beautiful example of one of the most important cathedrals in all of France. Since it is also a gothic church, building is also very tall. Although I am aware that gothic churches tend to have high ceilings, it still takes my breath away to see how high these really are.
