Artifacts on Display at the Palace of Tau

Monstrance at the Palace of Tau

The Palace of Tau in the city of Reims used to be the residence of the archbishop of Reims. These days it is a museum which showcases the rich history that Reims shares with France. Walking through the Palace of Tau brought back memories of me going through French museums. There would be some English captions but the vast majority of them would be in French. What’s more museums here tend to be very large. I understand that some people might like this kind of thing but history is just something that doesn’t interest me. There would be several impressive tapestries on display here but after seeing ten of them, they start looking like each other.

It was almost funny how quickly I got tired of the seeing the stuff on display since I haven’t been out of the country in two years. There were still some items which I can relate to such as items that can be found in the church. Since this used to be the residence of the archbishop there are a lot of artifacts which relate to the church, such as crucifixes and monstrance. As you might expect, these artifacts are very richly decorated usually with an overwhelming amount of gold. This is just to remind you how much wealth the church had back then.
