I thought that the Basilica of Saint-Remi is a very impressive building. It is one of the largest churches in France and it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The basilica houses the tomb of Saint-Remi one of the pivotal figures in the history of early France. There is so much history tied to this place that it is really deserving of being a UNESCO World Heritage site. While the basilica was heavily damaged in the first world war, the restoration work was very good and it is one of the most beautiful churches that I have been too. I thought that I have seen all of what the basilica has too offer and I was trying to make my way out. When I noticed some tourists looking at part of a wall.

Apparently, there is some old pavement that is displayed here. The pavement is actually floor tiles that was part of an old church of Saint Nicaise. The pavement has been moved to the basilica and it is displayed on one of the walls of the basilica. I could only speculate as to why pavement tiles have been stuck on a wall but I think it would be better to do so to protect the tiles from damage from people walking all over it. There are images of bible scenes on the tiles but a lot of them are not familiar to me. Curiously, the tiles are diagonally designed. I’m not sure if this was all of the tiles that were recovered but the ones that are one display here have very vivid imagery, it was almost like they were made recently.
