Going to Triton Lake

Winged Horse at Triton Lake

I was hoping to go to the spot where the signature photo of Powerscourt Estate is taken but it is a bit of a walk from the main house. To get there you have to walk to the end of the garden which is opposite the house. There is a lovely paved walkway here and it is actually very pleasant to visit, not unlike a public park. The gardens here a are very nicely tended which makes you wonder how they maintain it given how vast the estate is. Walking straight down from the Powerscourt House you will eventually hit the lake. There is a small bridge here which is flanked by two winged horses, just one of the many works of art on display here.

There is a path which lets you go down to the lake and under the bridge. Allowing you a view of the lake from under the bridge. It wasn’t anything special but it is probably something which can be easily overlooked. I can’t tell if the lake itself is natural. It isn’t very large but certainly large enough when you consider that this is actually private property. Visitors are allowed to walk around the lake but you need to be careful when with kids as there is no barrier here and kids could easily fall into the lake. I didn’t see that happen but you’ll never know.
