Other Side of Galley Head

Quiet Pool of Water at Galley Head

I hung around for much longer here at Galley Head compared to the other places I have been to that day. It is good that there are far less people here compared to the previous places, so I didn’t feel overwhelmed. It just goes to show how much people prefer beaches compared to places like this. It is a pity that the lighthouse area is off limits. In fact, you can’t even see it from the cliffs area. I was quite disappointed since I think lighthouses are beautiful structures. I decided to head back to the car when I noticed that there was another part of Galley Head which I haven’t explored yet.

There was a hidden path which lets the visitor go down to the water. It isn’t that obvious and you probably need to scramble a bit to get there but it really is there. Here, the water is much calmer, which is the total opposite of the other side. From the looks of it, I think it is good enough for swimming since the water is much calmer, however, check the local rules before doing this. I also see that the water is very clear here. I’m not sure how much closer you can get to the water from the other side, but it is difficult to see the clarity of the water from there. However, you can get very close to the water, hopefully in a much safer way.
