Galley Head

I decided that I would end my trip at Galley Head. It was already late afternoon and I thought that it would be prudent to just stop here before I get too far away from the bed and breakfast. I don’t like driving in the dark and even more so if I am not familiar with the area. I know that it is still summer time so the days are longer but I think it is just me wanting to play it safe. After all, I would have all the chances to drive the next day. So for today, it would just be Galley Head. As the name implies, the Galley Head is another one of those places in Ireland which has stunning cliff-side scenery. As expected there were a good number of vehicles here but thankfully, not as many as the beaches.

The Galley Head is not known for its beaches which explains why there aren’t that many people here, which suits me fine. Parking was easy enough to find. I immediately head straight to the cliffs where there were already people walking about. The main activity here would be to go hiking and you can already see people doing that. I wanted to take photos of the scenery first, and I can also see that there are also serious photographers here. It seems that there are a few spots here to take photos of. One of the interesting places here is how the sea carved out a hole at the bottom of the cliff. Part of the roof also collapsed thereby forming a bridge. It wasn’t very obvious to me until a friendly local pointed it out to me.
