An Anchor on Display at Kinsale Museum

It was quite disappointing to know that the Kinsale Musuem was closed to the public because of the pandemic. There is a rather prominent museum here are Kinsale not because it is a museum but because it used to be the courthouse. It subsequently served as a venue for ceremonies and now as a museum. The museum structure is quite unique and I think this was one of the structures which first caught my attention. It was a bit tricky to figure out exactly where the entrance is. Both sides seems to be equally capable of serving as the entrance. The other side of the museum is painted white white a single red front door. This wasn’t what was interesting about it but rather the stuff that is outside.

There seem to be some artifacts which are on display here. I guess since the museum is closed, might as well have some stuff on display outside to keep visitors interested. The artifacts on display here are maritime trade related. There are various parts of ships that are on display here only highlight how important Kinsale was as a maritime center. There is some history of the artifacts and some of them don’t even have a clear history because they have not been identified with any ship. I didn’t know that parts of a ship are marked with an identifier so make it easier to know where it originally belonged. Apparently, there are a few wrecks here which are quite well known, I will probably find more about them soon.
