Mullaghmore is one of those places that I find myself visiting again and again. It is part of the Wild Atlantic Way and it is along the route for a few interesting places. Just entering the village of Mullaghmore will already tell you that there is a very prominent structure here. The road to the village is dominated by a castle looking structure. It seems it is in private land so there is no access to it. According to Google Maps, this castle is named Classiebawn. It is a very attractive looking structure which is somewhat Disney-esque in its features. I was hoping to get a closer look a t the castle but there doesn’t seem to be any way.

If you drive around Mullaghmore Head, you can also get another look at the castle. I think this is a more attractive view with the imposing mountain of Benbulben behind it. Even with my zoom lens, there is not much detail to be seen here. I had to wait until the sun illuminated parts of the castle so it won’t look so dark against the sky. Some intrepid photographers can walk down to the rocks below and get a view of the castle for a magnificent shot. I don’t know what the plans are for this castle but I think it would make for a great hotel someday.
