Exploring the Bloody Foreland

Cliffs at the Bloody Foreland

I was delighted to have found a hidden gem in the Bloody Foreland. While I have seen signs pointing to this place, I never really visited it until now. Even coming here, I had to find the cliffs myself as there were no signs pointing there. Because of this, I consider this place some sort of hidden gem since it doesn’t seem like a lot of people know about this place. There are magnificent cliffs here which can give other parts of Ireland a run for their money. I first parked beside a farmhouse and took photos of the cliffs and the nearby beach here. What is interesting is that the wind seems to be particularly strong here where you can even feel the seaspray even if the water is far below you. I think the shape of the land funnels the wind and sort of amplifies it to how it is.

Further on, there is a farm road which you can follow, bypassing the farm gate. From here, you get a magnificent view of the Bloody Foreland. The cliffs seems to stretch much further than I thought. Unfortunately, the sun was directly in front of me, so the lighting was less than optimal. This view somewhat reminds me of the cliffs of Moher. Of course the cliffs aren’t as high but the similarity is there. What is nice that I could just park the car here and just sit back and enjoy the view. It does seem like not many know about this place because all the time I was sitting back, I was the only one there.
