Going to An Port

I am glad that I chose to explore this side of county Donegal. I have found out there are a numnber of interesting places to see here. What is great is that they don’t seem to be those minor type of places that you could give a miss. Maghera Beach is a large beach on this side of the county and it is home to several natural caves. Granny is a valley which could probably give nearby Glengesh Pass a run for its money. It is almost at the western edges of county Donegal, which it self is relatively unspoilt compared to the rest of the country. It’s location makes visitors think twice on visiting it. This prevents large groups of tourists from ever making it here. There are still the independent traveler who do make it here and they will surely be rewarded for making the effort.

Another one of these interesting places is An Port, which I think would be even more remote that those previous two places. It is at the end of a long and narrow road which passes through farmlands. I don’t even know how I managed to make it here after that misadventure I had the last time I was here. You would definitely need a car to visit An Port. The roads to An Port are mostly single lane and it is always very stressful to meet someone coming the opposite direction. There would always be a place to let cars pass so just be aware where the last one is.
