Grilled Dinner at Jemaa El-Fna

The Jardin Majorelle was a nice garden to visit. I wasn’t super impressed with the place and I think that I should have paid to go there. I guess it is because it was owned by a famous fashion designer that it became well known. I decided that would be the last of the places I would visit in Marrakesh. I know that there are other nice parks which are worth visiting here but I got tired from all that walking. I decided to head back to the medina. Google Maps led me to where the bus stop is which heads to Jemaa El-Fna. Again, I was happy that I didn’t have to take a taxi to go there. I don’t need to haggle with bus drivers.

Jemaa El-Fna is the main square in the medina of Marrakesh. It is a hive of activity now that it is almost sundown. It seems the the whole of Marrakesh comes here for dinner or just for fun. Speaking of dinner, I think I need to start looking for mine. There is a whole square’s worth of dining places here. The ones at the square tend to be more affordable so that it where I was looking. I didn’t think I should be having lamb’s head anymore so I was keeping a eye on which one would be nice.

It would be impossible not to run into any touts here. Wherever you are, they would come and nag you. I can’t really tell which ones are the good ones here so I just went by the number of local patrons they have. I ended up at this grill place. The food, as expected, is grilled meat – chicken, beef or lamb. It also “comes” with sides. Actually, this seems to be a little trick they keep playing on unsuspecting tourists. They would include this as part of your order and you end up having to pay for it. It is not a massive amount of money but it is sneaky the way they do this. If something comes which you didn’t expect, politely send it back. I have seen a few tourists lose their cool because of them sneaking in the “free” appetizer.
