Fortress Like Buildings at Ouarzazate

We were herded off to lunch by our tour guide. I suspect that he would make money off our lunch but I guess he needs to make his money. I ate my food quickly in the hope that I would get to the proper viewing area. I was disappointed to know that the spot was too far. When I got back to the bus, the guide told me that we would pass by the viewing area. We left and never stopped. I kinda expected that. The driver was no help either. I discovered that someone broke from the group and they were able to get the photos that they wanted. I didn’t even want to look at their photos because I know I would feel bad about it.

Apparently, we are headed to the nearby city of Ouarzazate. I didn’t know about this and I didn’t really care about it that much. Ait Ben-Haddou is well known for being a film set for various movies. Who can blame them, it looks fabulous. Because of that, this area has been come a center for film making in Morocco, you can think of it as Morocco’s Hollywood. Along the way, we passed by Atlas Studios which is a film making company. There are others here as well. We were brought here in the city of Ouarzazate to see some film studios. There was a large fortress-looking structures in the center of town. Apparently it is a called Taourirt Kasbah. It is not Ait Ben-Haddou but it is probably the closest I can get to seeing how Ait Ben-Haddou looks like.

For some reason, the driver brought us behind the thing and one would need to walk a long bit to see the front. On top of that we were given fifteen minutes to look around. This is unreasonable, I tried walking around the area but I didn’t really get anywhere. I pretty much used up the fifteen minutes going nowhere. That was probably the intention in the first place. We got back on the bus and started the drive back home. I get that the driver already wants to go home. It is a long drive back to Marrakesh and I guess he doesn’t want to be driving in the dark. I think we could have done without the stop over at Ouarzazate and just spent more time in Ait Ben-Haddou like actually going to the view point. After all, all of us in the bus were foreigners and we wouldn’t know anything about these film studios.
