Medina of Marrakesh

It was quite exciting to be finally in the city of Marrakesh. I know that I don’t really fancy visiting cities but Marrakesh, at least the medina, has a different vibe to it. Despite it being a centuries old medina, it is actually quite organized. There are of course the numerous stalls which are bound to be found in any medina but at least it doesn’t feel as suffocating as other medinas. Make no mistake, there will be touts, especially when you are near the eating area, but apart from that, most people would leave you alone.

Jemaa El-Fna is where all of the action is and all the locals know it. By evening, it seems that everybody and their dog is there. The place was full of people. Fortunately, the plaza is spacious enough to accommodate everyone. You can choose what you want to do here. If you want to eat, there is the eating area which had numerous stalls to choose from. If you go anywhere near it, chances are good that they will find you. You can choose to go shopping, there are hundreds of stalls here selling all sorts of things. I’m pretty sure there would be something that would interest you. If you are into historical places, there are several places within the medina which are historical. In fact, these places help the Medina of Marrakesh be part of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. I will definitely be visiting them in the next couple of days.
