Portuguese City of Mazagan by the Sea

I was happy to know that it is possible to walk the walls of the Portuguese City of Mazagan. This is normally possible to climb the walls back then since soldiers still need to patrol and make sure there are no approaching enemies. This time, it is tourists that are climbing the walls of the old city. There are areas above which are flat and can accommodate a lot of people. Fortunately, the old city isn’t that big of a tourist magnet. People here treat it just anyone would treat a park. Like most forts, the top of the walls would have battlements which help protect from attack. There also gaps in between to allow defenders to attack.

These days there is no one attacking. The gaps in between the walls are now perfect places to pose or just hang out. You can even see more of the fortified city from here. From the top of the walls, you can clearly see that it looks like a fort. Unfortunately, one of the walls is shadowed because of the sun coming from the other side of the wall. It would have been nice had the been illuminated. Perhaps it would be better to see this in the morning. I will have to see if I can wake up early to come back here. The place isn’t that far away from my accommodations so it won’t be too much to come back here.
