The Portuguese City of Mazagan has the perfect size for exploration. I got here just after lunch and I think I would have a lot of time to see the sites in the Portuguese city. The largest structure in the city is probably the church but it is also closed. It doesn’t seem to be in active use for church services anymore but rather used as an event venue. It was a shame that I couldn’t get in the church to see inside it. The old city of Mazagan is probably just a one street city. The main street is currently lined with various establishments like restaurants and guesthouses but nothing too much.

What is noticeable here is how different the city feels from a medina. For one thing, the streets here are wider thus more pleasant to walk in. There aren’t an overwhelming number of shops here which makes it even better. The structures here have been left pretty much the way it is and thus it has a distinctly European feel to it. I can see the doors and the windows have this kind of feel and it makes you feel like you are in a totally different country. What is nice is that it doesn’t feel crowded here so I can take my time taking photos and taking in the city. It really is a unique place to know that this kind of place has been well preserved.
