Ultimate Feast at Red Lobster

Ultimate Feast at Red Lobster

It was my last night in Minneapolis as I would be flying back home the next day. The area around the Comfort Inn – Mall of America only had a single restaurant nearby and I wasn’t keen on having steak again. I was hoping to get some nice dinner here. I remember about a restaurant called Red Lobster which was near our hotel but we never got a chance to eat there. There wasn’t one where Comfort Inn was. The nearest one was at a place called Southtown. By this time, I no longer had a car and I now needed to figure out how to get there. Turns out there was a bus which goes somewhat near Southtown. The bus stop wasn’t too far from Comfort Inn and I thought to give it a shot.

While this wasn’t my first time taking a bus in the United States, it was still an anxious experience. The walk was a bit further than I expected. At least, it was flat ground. It seems that I was the only one walking here as everybody seems to be expected to own a car. I managed to make it to Southtown which is a commercial center with various shops and restaurants. Red Lobster was one of these shops here and it was tucked in a rather quiet area of Southtown. This was my first time to eat here at Red Lobster though I have seen this place more then twenty years ago.

I had to wait a bit for a seat which wasn’t too long. It seems to be a popular place for dinner and I think I was lucky to get a place so soon. I got myself an Ultimate Feast which is a platter of seafood which comes with crab, shrimp and of course lobster. The portions were actually okay for the price. The garlic shrimp were particularly tasty. The lobster itself was half a lobster. The claw wasn’t as massive as I hoped it would be. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Red Lobster. I think it is one of those places to go to if you just want to chill out and have dinner. This is a chain, so you would be able to find it in other cities. One thing I noticed was how the staff give you the bill even before you’re eating. I thought that was a bit rude as it felt like they were telling you to hurry up and finish. I was told that this was normal and is considered good service since you don’t have to ask for the bill yourself.

Getting back to the hotel proved challenging. I had difficulty looking for the bus stop which head back to the hotel. The street was dark and I couldn’t find the bus stop. Eventually the bus passed by and even when I was frantically waving the bus down, the driver didn’t see me. The next bus won’t come until after another hour. I don’t think I can wait that long so I got an Uber and got back to the hotel in ten minutes.
