Trail of the Cedars

I managed to find parking for my hike to Avalanche Lake. This is a very popular place so it helps to get here early not only for parking but also for lighting. One of the features of this hike is the Trail of the Cedars. This may come as strange but I have no idea what a cedar tree looks like. I can only assume that the trees I was looking at were cedars trees since that is where the trail gets its name. Cedars trees are of course quite plentiful here but it is not only just cedar, there are also hemlock trees here mixed it.

Walking Through a Forest of Cedar Trees

The Trail of the Cedars as the name suggests takes you through a forest of cedar trees and for a minute you would forget that you were actually hiking up a mountain. The trail starts quite flat but starts a ascending gradually. The trail is perfect for beginners but it is longer than the hike I had the previous day. I found that I have already gotten used to hiking since I wasn’t huffing and puffing here. I think it was because of the much gentler slope here compared to that hike I did to Hidden Lake. The forest trail winds its way around the mountain and I thought it was a great introductory hike to people who haven’t done this kind of thing before.
