It is not really surprising anymore why so much about Glacier National Park is connected to water. A lot of the lake in the park have been carved out by ancient glaciers. These have later been filled in by water which have come from water from the mountains most likely from the glaciers themselves. While the glaciers are only a shadow of their former selves, their effects can still be felt all around. The waters from the mountains eventually join into creeks and streams which feed into the numerous lakes of the park. In this case, Lake McDonald has a one stream which runs past the Going to the Sun Road and empties into Lake McDonald.

There are numerous stops along the way where visitors can admire the waters. Keep in mind that this is actually going uphill, that is, if you are going toward Logan Pass. The waters on the other hand would descend the mountains to end up in Lake McDonald. There are several falls here along the way including convenient stops for visitors to take park their vehicles and take photos. One of the most significant ones is McDonald Falls which is probably the first one you encounter when driving up. The falls isn’t really very tall but still, the sheer amount of water flowing through here makes it quite impressive. The next waterfall is the Sacred Dancing Cascades, it is not too far from McDonald Falls and like it, the Sacred Dancing Cascades is a modest drop with a lot of water passing through. It was a bit difficult to appreciate these waterfalls since you are viewing it from the top. I think there might be hikes where you can view them better.
