Lake Five Resort

I was excited to visit the state of Montana. It would be my first time there but as far as tourist desintations go, it doesn’t seem to be that popular. When I told my friends, including Americans, that I would be going to Montana, the question is always the same – what do you do there? I think I am about to find out. I got a rental car which I will be using for the rest of the trip. This place is a bit remote so I think it would be good to have your own transportation. I heard that there was a shuttle service within the park but I don’t think I can rely on that to go to the places I want to go to. I quickly got accustomed to the driving in the Montana. It was out in the country so there was considerably less stress compared to driving in the big city.

Fortunately, Kalispell Airport is outside of the city of Kalispell itself. I just needed to get out to the main highway and I was on my way. The car has on board navigation and it had an entry for Lake Five Resort where I would be staying for the week. I thought about staying in Kalispell or Whitefish both cities are somewhat near the park but I think nothing beats staying inside the park. Besides, a lakeside cabin isn’t something I get to stay in that often. One thing with the navigation in the car was that I don’t think it gives and accurate representation of the map. The aspect ratio is wrong that some roads would appear further than they actually were. I ended up missing a major turn into Lake Five but that was it. I just need to make a U-turn which was easy since there was little traffic here.

Lake Five Resort is as it looks in the websites. I was given a large cabin for three. There was no lakeside view though. It would have been nice to see the lake in the morning but the trees were in the way. There were basic amenities in the cabin. There was a stove for cooking. There was small shower. There was a trick with the shower where you need to switch on the power before you get hot water. Finally, there was an electric heater. A godsend for me since it was quite chilly here. The beds were well made and very comfortable. At night it was very quiet, it feels like you are in the forest. It was my first time to stay in this kind of place and I liked it very much. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here the next time I come here.
