Walking Up Elephant Hill 象山

Taipei at Dusk

Taipei at Dusk

Taipei 101 is one of Taiwan’s most well known landmarks. I think I couldn’t take enough photos of it. However, there is a place nearby where you can get a good vantage point to see a lot of the city. Elephant Hill or Xiangshan 象山 is not too far away from Taipei 101 and it provides are a great view of the city. It was almost like they picked the site close to Elephant Hill to build the skyscraper. What I wasn’t prepared for was the walking. The way to the climbing path is well sign posted. I was surprised to see that the path is open even at night.

Walking Up Elephant Hill

Walking Up Elephant Hill

I wanted to go up Elephant Hill in the hopes of taking photos of Taipei 101 as the sun was going down. There would be no sunset to be seen here since the sky has been overcast the whole day. I am just thankful that the top of the tower is not obscured. I am no stranger to climbing hills to get a nice photo. After all, Hong Kong has Victoria Peak right behind it. Elephant Hill is not as tall though. It is almost a continuous flight of stairs, though it is difficult to see since it was getting dark now. It wasn’t a scary climb since there are others making the climb to the top. I don’t think it would be a long climb unlike the one in Hong Kong.
