I thought Jiufen was a pretty exciting place to be. The old street in particular winds its way along the mountain side and has turned into something like a night market. There were numerous shops here most especially snack shops. While I would like to think that I didn’t come to Jiufen to snack, but since I was already there, I might as well try some of the stuff they have. Not all the shops are confined to the main old street. There are some side streets which also have shops. It is here that I found a steamed bun shop.

The steamed bun is by no means a local specialty of Jiufen or even Taiwan, it is found all over the country the world. That being said, I haven’t had one in ages and I would like to sink my teeth into one. People were queuing up for the steamed bun and I thought that maybe this place is well known. Actually, the weather makes it nice to have one. The shops has an assembly line process in making the steamed bun no doubt hones by years of practice. I got the pork steamed bun, pretty typical bun. It wasn’t as large as I hoped it would be though it wasn’t bad. They have seating inside the shop so it was nice to stay out of the rain for a while.
