Waiting at Taipei Station

Taipei Station is the main train station of the city of Taipei. It is also a major interchange between the metro system and the railway network. This allows people from outside Taipei to take the train into the city. I never got to see how large the station actually is but it seemed to be a maze inside. Fortunately, there are signs which point to my train. It wasn’t far from the antiquated ticket kiosk where I purchased my ticket from. The platform didn’t seem to be any different from the train platforms which I have used elsewhere.

I can see how difficult it would be for foreigners to navigate this place since a lot of the signs here are in Chinese. I guess once you go through it, it would be easier the next time. As for me, apart from the purchasing the ticket itself, I didn’t have any trouble finding the train. People here at the platform were well behaved and it seemed like a lot of them are also visitors, possibly from the mainland. It is good to see how much has changed over the years since it wouldn’t been possible for people from either side to visit.
