Arrival in New Taipei City

Streets of Taipei

It has been ages since I was last here in Taiwan. Taiwan was my first time abroad long time ago. I was fortunate enough that my family was able to afford a trip for me. Perhaps they meant me to speak more Chinese. Fast forward to today, my Chinese is probably a tad better but still not native speaker level yet. I hope I haven’t forgotten since I haven’t been using it as of late. I arrived mid-morning in Taipei and I managed to find my way to the hostel where I would be staying at. Going to places like these is probably now a shock to me since I’m not used to very crowded places anymore. I hope I would get back in shape soon.

The hostel turned out to be in the middle of a busy commercial district. I was asking reception where I could have lunch, it turned out to be a silly question. The hostel immediate area is packed with eating places. I should have known since this is a common thing in Asia, especially Chinese cities. There was snack stalls one after the other and there were eating places. I was hoping to find some more decent looking ones but I was too hungry for that. I ended up going a place which serves food where you just point and they give it to you. I am no stranger to this and it almost feels refreshing to be able to do it again.
