It was only half day and it was already exhausted from all that touring. It didn’t help that I had to climb a hill to visit one of the most important landmarks in Lisbon and that is the Castelo de São Jorge. Fortunately, I think that was the last of the climbing that I would be doing. The rest, as they say, is all downhill from here. I was hoping to catch a tram to head down the hill but it was still just as difficult to get one. I think it was a sign that I should take a break and have some food first.

Fortunately, the area is a huge tourist area. This means that there won’t be a shortage of places to eat here. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to get a traditional Portuguese restaurant feel either. Then again, maybe it doesn’t matter. I ended up going to this place called Rio Coura. It just happened to be the nearest one which I saw. After all, how much different can you grill sardines anyway. As expected, I had sardines for lunch. True enough, there weren’t any different from the sardine I had elsewhere. This is not to say it was bad but if you are only grilling it you probably need to be really bad at it to come up with bad food.

I also got something different this time, it was seafood rice. I only saw it from another table and I thought to give it a try. There rice was actually very watery. It reminded me of paella except this was much more watery. I don’t think I ever had rice like this before. The water actually made the dish better since there was a some soup here. It really went well with the sardine and I was happily eating my meal. Rio Coura was a random restaurant I just walked into. It wasn’t the total tourist place which I thought it would be. I believe there were even regular Portuguese customers there since the staff seemed to know them. I just goes to show that it is easy to find nice food here in Lisbon.
