I didn’t realize that I was far away from Galway. I was exploring the county Mayo section of the Wild Atlantic Way and looking at the map, I realized that I only scratched the surface. There is still a lot of places to see in county Mayo and that is just the coast. I only visited the northern coast and it was already late afternoon. I didn’t want to be driving in unfamiliar roads at night so I needed to make haste to where I would be spending the night. In hindsight, I should have realized that Galway was too far and I should have stayed elsewhere but then again, I would have missed an opportunity to stay in Acorn House Bed and Breakfast.

As I was entering the city of Galway I noticed that there were a huge number of bed and breakfast signs. Then when I entered the estate where Acorn House Bend and Breakfast was, I realized that pretty much all the houses here are bed and breakfast as well. It seems that people here have taken to that to earn money. While it helps the people earn money, it can be sad at times because you don’t have people living there on a permanent basis. If you lived in the village you will be seeing different people everyday. Anyway, the lady of the house Merriam was a delightful woman, she was very chatty and made you feel welcome in the bed and breakfast. If you need a reason to stay here, she would be it. The house is spacious and so was the room that I got. I spent two nights here and I was glad that I found this place. If I visit Galway the next time, this would be my first choice. It helps that I somehow got a discount when I booked the place.
