Looking at the Atlantic from Malin Head

Malin HEad is one of the most well known places in county Donegal. This is the northernmost point of the island of Ireland. While I thought that was that amazing, I can’t recall if I have ever been to a most extreme point of any country. Malin Head is actually one of the discovery points of the Wild Atlantic Way, so it get more than its fair share of visitors. Having said that, there weren’t too many people at the time I was there. I thought that its role in the filming of a Star Wars Movie would have made it more popular but it seems it was still business as usual here.

Visitors can climb up a hill here to see much of the surrounding area. The climb isn’t that bad but there wasn’t a clear path here so visitors need to be careful not to lose their footing. Those who make it to the top are rewarded with views of the Atlantic Ocean. There is a tower here which used to be a signalling station for the British. Further on, there is sign formed by white stones which says Eire, this was a sign to any foreign aircraft that they are in Irish airspace which is neutral territory. I don’t know how much that sign was used in the war though.
