As I was walking around the city of Bordeaux, I was convinced that it is indeed one of the more beautiful cities that I have been to. The city is just oozing with elegance that is usually associated with royalty. The buildings here are well maintained, almost like it came from a picture book. Whether is was renovated or not, it didn’t seem to matter anymore since the city was just that pretty. There are a number of places that one needs to visit in Bordeaux and I seem to be near a few of them. My next stop is the Place Des Quinconces.

The Place Des Quinconces is one of the largest city squares in Europe. I have been to a few of these squares and all of them seem to proclaim that they are the largest. I don’t know about the accuracy of their claims but it does look big. A square in itself isn’t very interesting but this square in particular has a monument which happens to be one of the most recognizable in Bordeaux. The Girondins Monument is reminiscent of some monuments I have seen in Italy. This has a tall column topped by statues. At the foot of the column are bronze fountains with numerous figures. It really is very pretty apart from the fact that the fountain barely had any water. I don’t know why this is so, perhaps it was winter at the time and there was fear that the water may freeze, damaging the fountain?
