Cathédrale Saint-André de Bordeaux

Facade of Bordeaux Cathedral

Bordeaux has so many elegant buildings that I was spoilt for choice. Someone told me that there they would regularly film movies here because Bordeaux is just that beautiful. I would tend to agree. There doesn’t seem to be the grime that is present in large cities like Bordeaux. It felt safe to walk around and without the city turning into a museum town, there are a lot of old structures which give the place a lot of character. My first destination is the Bordeaux cathedral which turned out to be not that far from my hotel. I had to walk along a pretty little street which brings me straight to the cathedral. The street actually provide arguably the best photo of the cathedral with the two cathedral towers rising up and the cathedral itself right smack in the middle of the street.

One needs to be careful when walking down here since this is an active tramway. It would be best to listen for any incoming trams before taking a photo. Though I doubt they would actually run anyone done, one would not want to tempt fate with that. The Bordeaux Cathedral also goes by the official name Cathédrale Saint-André de Bordeaux. With a name like that, I would just stick to Bordeaux Cathedral. The cathedral was much older than I thought it was as it was built in the 11th century. I would be exploring more of the cathedral but it seems that there are a lot of places like these here in Bordeaux.
