I finished exploring the two major bridges of Albi despite the rain, I got to see a lot of the historic side of the the city. I was making my way back to the city and there are numerous streets here to get lost in. This is what is so nice about these old towns. Often times, the town centers are always a pleasure to walk in. In the case of Albi, where the buildings have been preserved from medieval times, it is as if you have been transported back in time. Actually, not really, since these days, the shops are their modern versions. It is probably because it was raining that there weren’t that many people in town then. I guess it was a good thing since I get to enjoy the place more, despite the rain.

As I was going around the town, I happened to run across a flight of steps which appear to lead to a church. I wasn’t aware that there was a church here since I already visited the cathedral but it turns out that there is an old church here with the name Collegiate Church of Saint Salvi. I have never heard of a collegiate church, but as the name implies, a collegiate church is maintained by a college of canons, or basically a community of priests. I guess this makes it a bit different from the normal churches where the church is maintained by the archdiocese. This church apparently is very old as well, with parts of the church dating back to the 11th century.
