Carcassonne at Night

I had a nice and satisfying meal of cassoulet at Le Trouvere. I didn’t get to enjoy the tavern that much since it was that dark but I was surprised to see how many people there actually were. Perhaps it is because not a lot of places are open on New Year’s Day that the tourists would tend to end up in the same places. Anyway, part of the reason why I decided to have an early dinner was that I wanted to be able to photos of Carcassonne as the sun was going down. I haven’t really seen photos of Carcassonne at night but I would think that they would look impressive.

As I was walking down the hill where the citadel is, the sun has already gone down. But this time, the lights of the walls of Carcassonne were lit up. This illuminated the entire structure, which really looks impressive. There was still a bit of light in the sky to I took that chance to photograph the walls this time with better lighting. I have been unlucky with my lights this trip but it doesn’t seem to be the case with Carcassonne. By lighting up the walls of the citadel, it can be clearly seen from below the hill.
