View of Avignon from the Palais des Papes

The Palais des Papes soars above the rest of the medieval town of Avignon as in the case of many other palaces. They tend to dwarf the ones which are around them. There is an access point in the palace where visitors can go all the way to the roof of the palace. It turns out that that palace wasn’t all as tall as I thought it was. The side of the main entrance is probably the highest point of the entire palace and visitors can have a good look at the medieval city of Avignon from here.

The square immediately facing the palace is the one which visitors can have a good look at. What I noticed was the that roofs of the houses here are all earthy colors. This seems to be a typical design in these parts of Europe. I think it makes these places look very attractive. Below, one can see that there are already umbrellas set up by the restaurants below. It was almost lunch time and it seems that that are already getting ready for it. The sun was out but it wasn’t hot at all. I was lucky the weather was nice as it allows me to see further.
