Going to Arles

Old Bridge in Arles

Old Bridge in Arles

After a day of exploration in the area around Avignon, I slept soundly that night. I have to keep reminding myself that this is a vacation and not a race. I usually end up trying to see too much and failing to enjoy the vacation. I hope I am not in danger of falling into that pattern once again. The next day was another day of exploring the area around Avignon. This place, though, will be a bit further out and it seems that it is much larger than the first two places I have visited the previous day. Having said that, the train is a probably a fast train so hopefully it won’t take too much time to get there. There is a direct train from Avignon City Center to Arles, so there was no need for a transfer back to the TGV station.

My next destination is the city of Arles which is in the south of Avignon. I have never heard of this city before but seems that is a very important city with a lot of Roman ruins. I had no idea that France had that much history with the Roman empire that this whole trip has been an eye opener for me. Most of the trip so far has something to do with the Roman empire starting from the city of Lyon and now to the city of Arles. I like this since I am learning more about this history of this country.
