Entering the Gates of the Auschwitz

Entering the Gates of the Auschwitz

I finally got the courage to visit the infamous German concentration camp Auschwitz. I was worried that I won’t be able to take in the horrors which happened there. However, I thought that I was only visiting the place. It would honor the lives of people who lived and died there if people would come and visit this place so people would be aware of what happened here so that it would not be repeated again. I took a tour bus which brought us directly outside the camp/museum. There were a lot of people in the queue to get in, most probably individual tourists who wanted to get in. It seems the groups can get in much easier.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, security was tight here. There was airport like security entering the place. This is probably to prevent troublemakers who still have an issue with this place. The Auschwitz was one of the largest of the German concentration camps. This was in operation from 1940 to 1945. People from all over Europe where brought here to settle and a lot were exterminated. Because of the location of the camp, mostly Polish prisoners were brought here because they were not of the superior race. It is an incredibly arrogant mindset to have thought of something like that. Poland had a significant Jewish population, those that didn’t manage to leave or hide were brought here. Eventually, even the Polish people were brought here.
