It seems the rain has stopped somewhat. Now I am able to explore the Church of Saint Michael in Brunary a little better. The church is actually called a tserkva, and it is used in Eastern rite services. That is not entirely true however. These tserkvas also have Roman Catholic services and there was a schedule posted on the door of the tserkva. At the time of my visit, there seemed to be some sort of auditing or research going on. There were people showing things and one was taking photos of the items. I didn’t get to speak with them, not did they speak in English, but it sounded like someone was trying to find out what was in the church.

The church itself has Eastern rite written all over it. It is probably difficult to describe but I think once you have been to a Roman Catholic church, and then see an Eastern rite church, then you would feel the difference. The wall behind the altar is lavishly decorated. This church actually a bit more spacious than the others. Additionally, it even feels brighter than the others. This is because of the more generous number of windows here. While having a dark church has its charm, I would definitely prefer one where you can see what is in front of you.
