Saint Anne’s Church in Warsaw

I finally decided to step out of the Old Town of Warsaw. It is actually quite small that one can potential go around the place in an hour. Thankfully, Warsaw is so much more than just the old town. From the Sigismund’s Column, there is a long street which seems to be quite lively. I remember walking down this street with my backpack when I first go here. Turns out I didn’t need to walk all the way from the train station to get here. Instead there is a bus 175 which saves you all that walking. There are a few interesting places here along this street and while there is still light outside, I decided to have a look around.

One of the first structures on the left is a tower looking structure. I initially didn’t know what kind of structure it was but it was the bell tower of the nearby Saint Anne’s Church. This place seemed to have been thoroughly commercialized. There was a set of shops at the foot of the bell tower. The church happens to sit on a terrace which overlooks the city of Warsaw. The tower has an entrance fee since it has been turned into a viewing tower. There was no way to get a peek from the terrace since it was all blocked by the shops. To the side was the main church of Saint Anne. I didn’t realize there was a church there since the facade was blocked by restoration work. It would have been nice to see the church without the construction but it seems that with the European Union money flowing, it was time to upgrade everything.
