Outside the Walls of the Old Town of Warsaw

Outside the Old Town Walls of Warsaw

I was a bit disappointed at how small the old town of Warsaw actually was. I think I have been to a few old towns and they didn’t seem to be as small as this. I was only considering the buildings within the city walls as the old town. There are a lot more buildings outside the city walls and I think they are worth a look. I like how they use red brick to build the city walls. It makes the walls much more attractive than gray forbidding walls which can be seen elsewhere in Europe. I think it seems to be particular to this region that they use red brick.

Considering that this place is actually a UNESCO World Heritage site, the old town of Warsaw didn’t feel to be overflowing with tourists. I am aware that people don’t go to Poland to visit Warsaw, people usually go to Krakow for that, but still, one would think that the capital of the country would see a lot more tourists. Perhaps it was because the weather wasn’t very good that day and everybody seems to be at home. It was quite miserable to be going around in the freezing rain but I don’t have forever to spend here.
