Inside the Church of Saint Martin

The church of Saint Martin in the old town of Warsaw was a surprisingly old church. It was supposedly constructed in 1353 but it doesn’t really look its age. As it turns out, nothing in the old town of Warsaw is actually old. This is actually a reconstruction of the church. The whole town was flattened by the Germans during World War II. It is a pity since the interior of the church of Saint Martin was supposed to have been amazing. Now, it is not as good as it was before but it is still nice.

The interior is totally modern in contrast to its old looks. There were photos of the old church and it looks like those super fancy churches you would see in Europe. That kind of style is baroque. The interior now glows a soft golden color from the lights. Such is the tragedy of war as it is will not leave priceless structures like these untouched. Like the Saint John Archcathedral, there was a monk like person who was sitting near the door. I don’t really know what the purpose was since he didn’t seem to be minding people, I could only imagine him to be some sort of security guard. Still it makes me conscious to randomly start taking photos all around the church.
