Going to Valentia Lighthouse

I have to admit, I wasn’t exactly enjoying my visit to Valentia Island. The weather that day was terrible. Winds were very fierce and could probably push someone off balance if they weren’t careful. The fact that you have to climb up mountains and hills to explore Valentia Island makes it worse since the winds will be stronger there. The views from the mountain was indeed stunning but it was hard to appreciate the beauty of nature if nature itself is trying to ruin it. Following the tourist route, it ended up going down Mount Geokaun which is one of Valentia Island’s highest points.

I managed to see that there was an interesting landmark while I was fighting the powerful winds in Valentia. It seems that there is a lighthouse here and it is one of the places to visit here in Valentia Island. I was glad to be down the mountain since it was very rough up there, but this is not to say that the winds weren’t that powerful at sea level either. Getting to the lighthouse was a bit tricky, since there were a few one way parts. When driving, it is important to be conscious of vehicles coming down the mountain who get priority over the ones coming up. I had to stop several times to let vehicles through, but it wasn’t that bad. I imagine it can be quite busy during the tourist season.
