Curran’s Cottage

I liked my visit to Staigue Fort which is a stone fort just off the Ring of Kerry tourist circuit. It is great to see more facets of Ireland apart from its Catholic churches. I find these kinds of places very interesting. They can be a hit and miss since the place would be so ruined that one would only see some rocks left. With that in mind, the Staigue Fort is a marvel of preservation that the fort is in very good condition after all these years. It actually isn’t very touristy here for such an important place. There is a small exception here and it is just outside the gate.

When I was heading back to the car, I noticed that there is a very small cottage here and it doesn’t seem to be a place to live in, for it is too small. Curran’s Cottage seems to be a store catering to visitors who drop by the Staigue Fort. It is actually in a very good location just beside the car park. People done with visiting the Staigue Fort can drop by here for some refreshments. It was summer, so the refreshment of choice was ice cream. The cottage itself is quite attractive with brightly colored windows and steps. They have outdoor seating here and they make for a very inviting place to rest.
