Walking Up Ligñon Hill

I made it to the foot of one of Legazpi City’s most famous tourist spots. It is actually located near the city airport in fact, it is not uncommon to come visit the hill right after arriving at Legazpi City by air. The flight doesn’t take too long from Manila and passengers won’t be too tired to walk up the hill soon after arriving. I got here by jeepney and I was dropped off at the foot of the hill. The hill isn’t really that tall but once you are a the foot of the hill, the hill starts looking like a mountain.

It was still early morning and the heat wasn’t that unbearable yet. I started my hike up. There is a nice paved road that winds up the hill. If you have a vehicle you could very well drive all the way to the top. I used my own power to walk up the hill. There is an entrance fee though but I think they don’t expect walkers to come here that often and they had to call me back since I already walked past the entrance. The sun was still a bit lower in the sky so there was a lot of shade here going up the mountain. I haven’t done this in a while and I quickly realized how out of shape I was. I was only thinking that this should not be a very long hike since it is just a short hill. I could see more and more of the city as I kept climbing. Curiously enough, I still couldn’t see Mayon Volcano. The hill obscures the volcano and it seems that you can only see it when you get to the top.
