Inside the Bruges Railway Station

We had a great time exploring the historic town of Bruges. The town is not that big and can probably be explored in an afternoon, which is why we were leaving now to explore another town. This is definitely not that best way to explore Belgium but given the limited time we have I think this should not be too bad to do. Trains are very common here and towns and cities are very well connected. In our rush to go see the historic town of Bruges, I have completely forgotten to have a look at the Bruges Railway Station. This is obviously the main gateway to this historic town.

For all its importance in tourism, the Bruges Railway Station wasn’t that large. In fact, the building itself is probably just as a big as a small shopping center. I may have different ideas of how big a railway station is but I thought that it should be able to accommodate the huge number of people coming through the station. I remember when we got out of the trains, the railway station was pretty packed that we had to wait for everybody to get out before we decided what to do. The waiting area inside even smaller, I can’t imagine how long it might take to purchase tickets here during the peak seasons. Maybe the number of trains which pass through the station lessens the need for a very large station. After all, you won’t need to stay very long in the station if another one is coming a few minutes later.
